Dear Reader:
Reflecting on the past year of impact for Civic Consulting Alliance fills me with a great sense of pride as well as with excitement for all that lies ahead.
Civic Consulting Alliance drives impact through collaborative pro bono investments, bringing together leaders across all sectors to get big things done for Chicago. We’re committed to addressing Chicago’s greatest challenges, and engaging the right people and resources to generate solutions and create a more prosperous, equitable city. The incredible dedication of the individuals and organizations listed in this report make that happen. In the most recent year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019) they collectively invested more than $13 million to: build safer, communities; elevate our education system; and grow an economy that works for everyone.
We have many more opportunities to advance our mission than our current resources allow, and the need for our services continues to grow. As a result, working in collaboration with our staff, the Board undertook a strategic planning process last year, with the goal of increasing Civic Consulting Alliance’s impact.
We are extremely grateful to our Board members, staff, clients, pro bono, and philanthropic partners who provided candid feedback that shaped our planning. In listening to input from our stakeholders, it was clear that Civic Consulting Alliance enjoys a strong foundation of trust, respect, and goodwill, as well as a track record of achieving impact. We also heard a strong belief in our unique model for leveraging cross-sector collaboration and its ability to tackle complex challenges.
As we look to the future, Civic Consulting Alliance is committed to harnessing the energy that has been catalyzed by Chicago’s Mayoral transition and other important public and private sector efforts impacting the city and region. At the same time, we are committed to modeling a more inclusive approach to civic leadership. This includes a commitment to creating a vibrant organization in which individuals with diverse backgrounds experience a sense of belonging, have the opportunity to lead, and contribute to making our region a great place for everyone. We’re proud that dedicated efforts over the past two years have increased diversity of both our staff and Board, and we will continue to examine ways to achieve greater inclusion and equity within our organization and in everything that we do.
I am grateful for and inspired by all of our Board members, staff, clients, pro bono, and philanthropic partners, who work with every day to make the Chicago region a great place for everyone. I hope that you will read on and appreciate this incredible list of individuals.
Thank you for your invaluable contributions that continue to make our work possible.
Sincerely,
Deborah L. DeHaas, Chair
Civic Consulting Alliance
